Napa BMX 9/7/2016-9/17/2016

Anthony will be participating in a beginner BMX racing course over the next five weeks on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00 (before official racing) and on Fridays from 4:00 to 6:00. They will run unofficial races the last hour or so on Fridays. This is put on by Donny Robinson, the track crew, and the city of Napa.

So Anthony has had a LOT of track time this week, and will be getting a lot more in over the next several weeks!

Wed 9/7- 2nd place Gianluca 3rd place

Fri 9/9 beginner races- 3 firsts and then a third when combined with 5 year olds; crashed hard, but still got up and finished 3rd out of 7.

Sat 9/10- Raced in the 6N class. Finshed 4th out of four in the first moto, not too far behind; finished third in second moto, pretty close behind Elena; didn't technically qualify for main, but raced and finished fourth, just a small gap behind the leaders (a few seconds or so)

Wed 9/14- 1st place. Gianluca 2nd place.

Fri 9/16 beginner races- Anthony finished third in the first three motos behind Boden and Colton. He didn't seem to be trying very hard. We thought there were only going to be three races, but then they called for main events, so we realized there would be four. Anthony perked up when he heard "main event" and got back into his aggressive posture. He caught and passed Colton about halfway through, and held on for the win about a half bike length in front of Colton. Boden didn't race the last race, but Colton almost beat Boden in one of the earlier motos.

Sat 9/17- Anthony was side by side with Colton leading the first moto when his foot slipped off the pedal and he lost some ground. He made a little bit up, but not enough to beat Colton so he had to race moto 2. He collided with Bryce in turn one of the second moto, and they both went down. They both got up and finished, but Anthony was last so that's two weekends in a row that he hasn't technically made it to the main. Ray said that he could race, but unlike last week when we did that, I decided it wasn't a good idea this week because it might take away some glory from Bryce and Naomi. There's a good chance that Anthony could have won the race and that wouldn't be nice for the other kids since he technically didn't advance to the main.

I switched his pedals out as soon as we got home!
